cross stitch

I started embroidering when I was quite young, don't remember when exactly. I enjoyed stitching, but I really didn't like following the printed on patterns I had at the time. It wasn't until I got my first counted cross stitch pattern that I fell in love with cross stitching.

I thought I was pretty proficient at cross stitching, until recently. I went surfing to see what kinds of tips other people were offering. I didn't realize there were so many rules! Some, I'm happy to say I discovered all by myself, others I respectfully disagree with, and still others I'm going to have to try out and see for myself.

Until...this morning, I've always stitched on Aida, so I guess I'm still a newbie. Thanks to the internet though, I've found lots of helpful links for stitching on linen or evenweave. I took one of my favorite pictures of me and downloaded the trial version of PM Stitch Creator and made it into a pattern. Just this morning I started stitching it on some antique white 32ct Belfast. If I hadn't checked out all those sites first, I'd be stitching over one, but not the correct way.

More to come...
